Are you moving to Nashville, but do not know where to start? It can be challenging to determine what each unique area of Nashville has to offer. This moving to Nashville guide will help you choose the region where you live a little more easily.

The guide focuses on the prominent neighborhoods of downtown Nashville and its environments, about fifteen kilometers from the city's heart. To be close to everything happening in Nashville, these are the best areas to explore.

In this article, we are not interested in Nashville's suburbs, such as Brentwood, Hendersonville, Hermitage, or Franklin. However, these areas also deserve to be examined if you do not mind being on Nashville's outskirts.

1. Downtown Nashville or SoBro

Downtown Nashville is a truly unique experience. It's all because of the famous "honky tonks" of Broadway and 2nd Avenue, featuring live music every day of the week and the endless events taking place at Bridgestone, Nissan Stadium, Ryman, and Riverfront.

When you live in downtown Nashville or SoBro (South of Broadway), which is just the southeastern part of downtown, you can walk around the downtown area. Moreover, you can walk maybe other areas such as The Gulch, Demonbreun, and Midtown, but it's a bit of a hike to another place.

A significant advantage is that you can get a trip via Lyft or Uber and join the other neighborhoods. You must expect to be part of the Nashville tourist scene and be affected by many events in downtown Nashville.

Another thing is this downtown is not ideal for families but is perfect for new people in Nashville who want to experience the city's reputation. If you have already experienced Nashville, as a passionate or local tourist, you may want to choose to live in another area to select the right time to experience Nashvegas' energy.

With more than sixty bars and restaurants ranging from local hot spots to national chains, the area is truly a gem with so much to offer. Shopping in downtown Nashville consists mainly of shoe stores, western wear shops, souvenirs, and music stores. The 5th Avenue of Arts and Music Downtown are also the locations of some major attractions.

When you live in downtown Nashville, TN, or SoBro, there are mostly high-rise buildings and apartment buildings.

Hillsboro Village is urban, walking distance and offers many housing opportunities. It sits between Belmont University and Vanderbilt University. The area tends to be more family-friendly due to the number of single-family homes available.

If you live in the Hillsboro Village area, you can enjoy more than 15 bars and restaurants, including staples like Pancake Pantry and Fido. Moreover, Hillsboro Village also has excellent shopping, including several unique shops and a local bookstore.

It houses the Belcourt Theater, a theater house offering classic films, independent and foreign, musical performances, and theater. Although you can walk to restaurants, theater, and shopping, you will probably have to drive to a grocery store and other Nashville areas.

West End area of Nashville is one of Nashville's main streets. It's essentially the continuation of Broadway to the west side of the city. Technically, it crosses the center of Midtown, but most people refer to everything on West End Avenue as "West End."

The "West End" area is best known for Centennial Park. The Parthenon in Centennial Park in Nashville, Tennessee, is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. Confederate veteran William Crawford Smith designed it, and he built it in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. "West End" is lined with sidewalks streets, making it walkable from one end to another.

It is full of restaurants and shops, although there are more channels than local spots. Nevertheless, the West End also has good local bars and restaurants. A wide variety of people live off the West End, ranging from wealthy professionals to students.

Elliston Place, also known as "Block of Rock," is a small segment of the West End with its own trendy atmosphere and culture.

With local concert halls like Exit / In and The End in the neighborhood of "Hood", it's an excellent place for music lovers. The population of Elliston Place bows younger and trendy, mainly thanks to its proximity to the Vanderbilt campus.

Life options on the West End are mostly apartments and condos.

Melrose is a neighborhood south of downtown and just east of the famous 12 South. The community's main road is Franklin Pike, which turns into 8th Avenue South heading north towards the city center. Franklin Pike is a main artery of the city, so the area is still bustling.

The neighborhood has no tall buildings, so it looks less urban than some other areas. Moreover, Melrose attracts young adults and families because of its proximity (but not too much) to the city center and nearby restaurants and bars.

A sidewalk along Franklin Pike and many secondary roads facilitate walking. Besides the city's best restaurants and bars, such as Sinema and The Sutler, there are lounges, shops, convenience stores, and a grocery store. Sevier Park is also a short walk away.

Melrose is one of the few neighborhoods in Nashville that has not yet been completely refurbished. We expect more growth and change over the next few years.
