How to Set Up a Facebook Business Page

Step 1. Log in to Facebook & create a page.

Remember, you need to use your personal Facebook account to create a Facebook business page, so first, you have to log in to your personal account.

In case you don't have a Facebook account, click "Create New Account" and make one.

If you already have your Facebook account, just log in. Once you're logged in, you will be redirected to your Homepage. On the left side, go to Pages and click "Create New Page."

Step 2. Enter your business information.

On the next screen, put your basic business information, such as your page name, category, and a description of your business.

So, just fill out the following information one by one:

  • Name

  • Category

  • Description

After filling them out, click the “Create Page” button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Upload Your Profile Picture & Cover Photo

After putting in your basic information, you can now upload your profile picture and cover photo.

Businesses usually use their logo as a profile picture, but you may use any photo representing your business and branding.

  • Profile photo: Upload it from your computer or smartphone.

  • Cover photo: Ensure it is visually eye-catching. It should also represent your business. To avoid photo sizing problems, use Canva to create your cover photo. It’s free, and you can use pre-designed templates to make your own cover photo easily.

Now, once you're done adding a profile picture and a cover photo to your Facebook business page, click "Save."

Step 4. Add relevant information & customize your business page.

Next, build out your Facebook business page with more information about your business and what it offers.

To start, go back to your homepage, and on the left side, scroll down and find the section labeled “Edit Page Info.” Just fill out the missing information in this section and make sure you check everything until the bottom part

Ensure you complete all sections, as it may be a potential customer’s first point of reference for your business.

Just fill out the following fields:

GENERAL

  • Name

  • Username (Skip this for now, and I will discuss it later)

  • Description

  • Phone number

  • Email

  • Website (If you have an existing website, you add it here. If you don't have one yet, you may check this box that says, "My page doesn't have a website.")

Now, you have accomplished your basic Facebook business page. Next, go to other sections that can help you improve your page.

Step 5: Add a Call-To-Action (CTA) button to your page.

After putting essential information into your Facebook business page, add a Call-To-Action button to the page. Page visitors will be able to see this on the top right side of your page below your cover photo. This gives visitors a way to quickly take a specific action, such as follow, book now, call now, learn more, send an email, and many more.

Remember, a relevant CTA button can help generate more leads and, subsequently, increase sales.

Select which Call-To-Action button you would like to add to your page. To do this, select and click the blue “+ Add a Button” option on the left side of your page below your cover image. Next, choose which action you want your visitors to take, and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Step 6. Set up an auto-reply on Messenger.

  1. Go to Page Settings, then click Messaging.

  2. Click "Starting a Messenger Conversation".

  3. Find the Show a greeting, then turn ON the tab. Customize your message by Add Personalization.

  • Customize the message you send. Do this by clicking Add Personalization. After you're done, click "Save."

PREVIEW ON MESSENGER

  • You may also click the Preview in Messenger to see how it looks like on the Messenger app.

Step 7. Change your template & update tabs.

You can customize your tabs or menu options on your page.

Just click on the “More” button from your business page, and then select “Edit Tabs” from the options

Then, you can change your template if you want to. Choose the tabs you want to use and display on your page using the on/off toggle. Also, you can reorder the tabs. Just drag and drop them.

Step 8. Configure Advanced Settings

There are still many additional options you have when customizing your Facebook business page on the screen's left side. While each business does not need all options, it’s helpful to familiarize yourself with these available options and see if anything suits your goals, business, and audience.

For example, if you need some people to access your Business Page, let's say a social media manager who is responsible for publishing social posts, you can create new users with different roles under “Page Roles.” Just to the Page Settings and click "Page Roles."

Moreover, you can also do things like configure messaging settings or even connect Whatsapp as you please.

Step 8. Create your username.

You can only create a username once your page reached 25 likes. Getting at least 25 likes would be easy; just invite your friends and relatives to like your newly created Facebook business page.

Once you have that, you can set the username. Just make sure you want to stick with the username you choose because after setting a username, you cannot change it.
