It is a historic site built in 1885. The courthouse has never been overcrowded so far. Also, it is a two-story red courthouse in the middle of Lynchburg. Moreover, it was included in the NRHP in 1979. Based on the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce, the courthouse is closed on Thursdays.
